Beth Dreyer Photography Blog bio picture
  • Hi I'm Beth! Welcome to my blog! I am a Dallas, TX based custom baby, child and family photographer. I'm also a mom of two boys who strives to be fabulous {while managing snot, drool and spit up}, organic {in a chemically overdosed culture}, budget conscious {in a spendy metroplex}, keep up with a house {with a hectic schedule} and stay sane on top of all that. I write about all of those topics here in addition to posting all of my latest photography.

I can’t do this but I’m doing it anyway.

I saw this little saying on Pinterest recently and stopped in my tracks.  It completely describes how I’m feeling right now in at least six areas of my life:-).

Every time I want to stop what I’m doing and wait until all of my ducks are in a row before I go on, God reminds me that He’s in charge and tells me to keep going.  Some people have ducks-in-a-row kind of lives.  I thought I was going to have that kind of life!  I used all of the responsibility that comes instinctively to firstborns to try to position my life to go according to a nice pretty little plan.  But God had other ideas for our lives.  Note to self: His ideas are always better.  I’m learning to embrace the holy chaos that God is bringing into my life.  There are definitely times (umm like today?) where I wish that I had a nice well-lit little path laid out in front of me that I could tie up in a nice pretty little bow as I arrive at each pre-planned checkpoint.  But I’m living a ‘lamp unto my fight and a light unto my path’ kind of life instead.  I haven’t mastered the faith required to live this holy chaos life with complete grace {smile} but I can tell you that God has always come through.  Although I don’t see the greater plan all the time, He does.  When I tell Him I can’t do this, He tells me to go ahead and do it anyway.  And it always works out.

Since I like things to be pretty, I redesigned this little saying into something a little more vibrant.  Feel free to use it however you like!
