Beth Dreyer Photography Blog bio picture
  • Hi I'm Beth! Welcome to my blog! I am a Dallas, TX based custom baby, child and family photographer. I'm also a mom of two boys who strives to be fabulous {while managing snot, drool and spit up}, organic {in a chemically overdosed culture}, budget conscious {in a spendy metroplex}, keep up with a house {with a hectic schedule} and stay sane on top of all that. I write about all of those topics here in addition to posting all of my latest photography.

Fashion Friday – Vacation

Fashion Friday at the beach.  Let me paint this picture for you.  As I was getting ready for photos I decided to curl my hair.  It looked awesome.  Then I went outside.  Then I posed the family, set up my camera on the tripod, and ran back and forth to join the photo as the self timer beeped.  It took less than one time running back and forth to destroy the work of my curling iron.  After about the third or fourth time I was beginning to sweat.  Why had I decided to wear a sweater with my outfit again??  We all saw what happened when we attempted to get photos of my little family.  Click here if you missed that delightful image or if you just want to laugh at us again.  Then it was my turn.  I was really slightly grouchy and super sweaty but I think I did a pretty good job of fooling you into thinking I just happened to be having a lovely afternoon stroll on the beach, no?
Although it was a little too hot for this outfit that particular day, I like this outfit because it’s easy, it’s got a little bit of personality,  it’s really comfortable and completely washable.  And because I’m super obsessed with stripes right now.  Sometimes an outfit doesn’t need bracelets, dangly earrings and layers and layers of necklaces.  Sometimes simple is best.  Here’s the breakdown:
Grey Tee: Forever 21
Cardigan: Tarjey
Jeans: Citizens of Humanity.
Belt: J. Crew
Necklace:  Was a gift I have no idea where it’s from.
Bonus Outfit:  Here I am with Rhett mid travel-day-from-hell (please note the blood stain on my left sleeve).  Same jeans as above but with a white button down, sparkly hoops and Moby wrap.  I chose the white button down because I knew I’d be wearing Rhett in the Moby and a) White goes with everything.  Yes I wanted to coordinate with my Moby.  Don’t judge.  b)  I didn’t want to have to deal with trying to pull a cardigan on over it if I got cold.  With the button down I could roll up or roll down the sleeves to be comfortable.  I had dreamed of being all glam and having curled hair with makeup on while we traveled.  In order to do this I would’ve had to wake up at 4:00 in the morning.  Really?  I thought that was going to happen?   Instead, we slept through our alarm, missed our flight and I had bags under my eyes.  C’est la vie.
